Swordfish Hosting Platform
Over the past few years shared server technology has started to buckle under the pressure of sites which use more traffic, more power and more resources. When we designed our hosting platform we build it with this in mind. We don't operate your typical shared servers, all our shared accounts are hosted on virtual environments meaning we can transfer them between servers if problems arise seamlessly or add more resources to servers with no downtime.
We firmly believe that by creating our platform with the best technology backed up by the best team of professionals we provide a great level of service, support and reliability and we hope you do to. Added to this we only use branded HP, Dell, Netgear and Cisco equipment with only rackable servers and switches, no desktop components are used throughout our infrastructure to ensure the best performance.
HP Servers
All our production servers are HP branded rack servers with Quad Core Xeon processors with up to 32GB of RAM per server. Added to this we run RAID 5 mirrored hard drives which means HDD's within the server can fail without the server going down keeping your website online.
Dell DS Servers
Our dedicated servers are all Dell branded, rack mounted, Xeon powered servers. We only use the best parts in our dedicated server range to ensure you have the best reliability. The majority of our range also has RAID 1 mirrored hard drives for safety.
Cisco and Netgear
Our network and systems are powered by Cisco and Netgear - the leaders in server infrastructure components. We use the Cisco Ironport security appliance to protect our system from spam and Netgear powering our gigabyte enabled switch.
Remote Management
As with any complex system problems arise however all our internal systems, switches and power can be remotely managed allowing us to respond rapidly when they do. This also allows our support team to make changes rapidly if you have a support query so you are never left waiting.
Virtual Shared Environment
In recent years traditional shared server technology has come under immense pressure as website traffic and the amount of resources it takes to power a website has increased. Here at Swordfish we've addresses this with our virtualized shared environment allow us to add resources, move accounts and respond immediately when things change.
RAID 5 HDD
All our virtual shared and VPS environments are powered by servers using RAID 5 mirrored technology. Put simply this technology stores copies of the data across a number of hard drives so if one hard drive goes down the others have the information to keep going. We can even replace hard drives without taking your website offline.
Quad Core Xeon
We only use Quad Core Xeon processors in our VPS and virtual shared environments to give maximum power and future proof our equipment - it's like have 4 computer processors running side by side all the time so you can do 4 times the work. Added to this we never oversell on our hosting platform so you know you're in safe hands.
Resilient RAM
In a typical computer if your RAM (memory) fails your computer won't start however with our HP powered technology if part of a memory stick fails it is isolated from the used portion so the server can keep going. It even tells us whats happened so we can replace a part without you ever noticing.
