We've obsessive over our network and pride ourselves on it's up-time to ensure things are running smoothly. However we don't just sit back and relax - we're very proactive about out network always checking it, upgrading it and enhancing, in fact our cabling is the tidiest around and we like it that way!
So what do we mean by our hosting network? Well everything that connects you sitting reading this to the web-server and in between. We mean data centres, cables, switches, firewalls, security, fire suppression, power, N+1 resilience, IP Transit and our multiple tier 1 providers.
Data Centre
Swordfish host within a Tier 3 datacentre - a level only given to those with one of the highest level of security, resilience and infrastructure around. It's secure, powerful, has N+1 resilience on everything and has a world class team of engineers working 24*7 to keep it that way.
Security
CCTV monitored both internally and externally and stored on tape for 3 months, an 8ft tall perimeter fence with electric gates, secure key fob access only and 24*7 security manned premises ensure your data is as safe as it gets.
Fire Suppression
The data centre is protected by FM200 gas which in the event of a fire fills the data center halls with FM200 to rapidly extinguish fire without using water to prevent any damage to the servers. The gas is pumped both under the floor and into the room making sure any fire is put out fast.
Resilient Power
All servers have power provided by two diverse connections with two suppliers onto the national grid. Added to this in the unlikely event both feeds fail a battery backup is supplied to provide immediate power whilst a diesel UPS kicks in after 30 seconds to provide continuous power.
N+1 Fail-over
N+1 simply means the data centre has the number of power units, switches, fire suppression and Internet carriers it needs + 1 so in the event any of the systems fail there is a backup ready and raring to go. This N+1 resilience is something we carry onto our hosting platform to make sure you are always online.
Tier 1 Providers
Our servers are connected to the Internet with multiple carriers using BGP4 technology. It's a bit like having your home Internet connection with several providers so that if one stops you aren't disconnected to the Internet. With our BGP4 technology it means Internet traffic can choose the fastest path possible to your site and if one fails another is there to take it's place.
Branded Switches
We use Netgear and Cisco infrastructure throughout our systems giving you the highest level of service all with gigabyte enabled technology which allows for up to 1000Mbit per second. All switches can be remotely controlled giving us total flexibility and response times in the event of any issues arising.
Cabling
All cabling is done with CAT6 cabling which contains and uses all 4 copper wires. CAT6 provides support for gigabyte technology where needed and supports communications of nearly twice the speed of CAT5. Added to this our attention to detail when cabling it's just another reason why we're ready to host your next project.
